A Word From The Pastor PDF Print E-mail

Even wise people are fools if they let their money change their thinking.  Ecclesiastes 7:7 (NCV)

It is amazing how dependent we are on money. We need it for rent, mortgage, utilities, food, transportation, clothes, etc. We have become so dependent on money that often we allow it to dictate our priorities and set our goals.

The Bible reminds us that God is our provider of all things. He knows that we need money for the basic needs of our lives. When we love God and love people, He will show us how to use the money we have. When we love God and also love money, we almost always end up using people to get what we want.

The wisest people in the world become fools if they begin to let money rule their lives. Make the smart choice and let God show you how to make and use the money and possessions that you have. You won’t be sorry.

What a great worship time we had last Sunday! The music was exciting and you could feel the power of the Lord. We rejoice over the one who came forward to profess Christ. Thank you, choirs, praise team, instrumentalists, and Bro. Dennis, for leading us in worship.

We are back into our fall routine and I want to invite you to become active in some of the many Bible studies and activities we offer at Fee Fee. We have Bible studies on Sunday mornings and men’s and women’s studies, as well as AWANAs, on Sunday evenings. It is a good time to get plugged into one of these wonderful ministries.

Pray for our Stewardship Committee as they begin the long task of assembling and putting the 2011 church budget together. Each ministry and department will be putting together their anticipated needs. These will be received, prayed about, discussed and put together as a proposed budget during September and October. The final copy will be presented around Thanksgiving and voted on by the church in   December. Keep giving and keep praying that God will allow us to do and fund the ministries that will be most effective in reaching people for the Lord.

Our Minister to Students, David Martin, submitted his letter of resignation to the Personnel Committee on August 13. Please keep David and his family in your prayers as they seek God’s will and direction. Also keep our youth and college students in your prayers as we begin our search for the next Minister to Students. Jen Pfeiffer will be coordinating all the activities until we find an interim. Pray now for the person God is preparing for us.

We had many visitors last week—let’s keep reaching people for Jesus.

 See you in church,

Brother Randy

Kids' Korner PDF Print E-mail

School has begun and it’s time to join in the excitement of a new church year! Sunday, August 29, will be our graduation for the third graders (now fourth graders) from KIDS’ WORSHIP into “big church”. We will celebrate in children’s church. You can do a celebration of your own as a family and rejoice that they will be able to worship with you. Tell your 4th graders what you expect from them in worship but more importantly what God expects. Thanks for allowing Gail and her helpers the opportunity to teach your children about worship. Just a reminder that Kids’ Worship is available every Sunday for children K through 3rd grade during the 10:50 a.m. worship service (just after Pastor’s children’s moment). Don’t forget to sign your child in and out for children’s church. There is childcare available for children birth through pre-K as well.

Promotion Day is coming up September 5. Preschoolers and kids are moving on up! Our 5th grade class has already moved into the student    division. On September 12 we will give Bibles to the kids coming up from preschool into the children’s division and into Kindergarten. They will also take a field trip on August 29 to visit the Kindergarten classroom. Parents, hope you’ll have your kids there in the 10:50 a.m. worship service that day to receive their Bible. Talk to your kids about the changes that will be taking place in a couple weeks so they can make the transition smoothly. It would be helpful also, parents, if you could walk your child to their Sunday  School classroom and then pick them up after Bible study.

Wednesday night programs for preschoolers and children have begun. There is something for everyone. Supper is at 5 p.m. – call the church office for a reservation. Choirs for preschool (age 4-Kindergarten) and children (1st-5th grades) at 6 p.m. Then at 7 p.m., Mission Friends (4 years old through Kindergarten), Girls in Action (girls grades 1-6), and Royal Ambassadors (boys grades 1-5). There is childcare for preschoolers 3 and under. If you need info on any of these programs, don’t hesitate to ask.

We have lots to offer families at Fee Fee. Be involved with your kids. It’s a great place to be family!

Springfield Trip

Joe Pewitt and Bill Miller have planned an October 19-20 overnight trip to Springfield, Illinois, the one-time home of our 16th President. Lincoln was probably the most hated of all the presidents in his day and now often considered to be the most loved and respected. Historians tell us that more has been written about “Old Abe” than all other presidents combined. The 200th year anniversary of his birth has brought forth a new material to book stores and libraries. In Springfield we will see a state-of-the-art museum's depiction of young Abraham’s life on the frontier, his rise to political power, the war years and his untimely death and his burial place. The museum is currently featuring a special exhibit based on the new book, Team of Rivals. In addition to Lincoln interests, we will visit the famous Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Dana-Thomas House.

Come join us for this two-day trip to learn about and enjoy this historic figure that has so captured the interest and emotions of a nation for so many decades. The invitation is open to all ages—see the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board near the Cornerstone Café.

 Café Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed in the Cornerstone Cafe on Wednesday or Sunday evenings. Please contact Joan Burnett (314-369-4171) if you would like to help.

Fire Safety and Fire Extinguisher Training—September 18, 9:00 a.m. More Details to follow.

Resignation

The personnel Committee received and accepted the letter of resignation from David Martin on August 13. The process will now begin to form a Minister of Students Search Committee. Please pray for Bro. David and his family as they seek God’s will and direction. His letter follows:

Fee Fee Baptist Church,

I would like to thank Bro. Randy and the church body for giving me this opportunity to serve here. I have created many wonderful memories and friendships that I hope will last a lifetime. But it is with great sadness that I write this letter. I am turning in my two-week notice that I will be resigning my position as Minister of Students. During this two-week period, I will be using my last two weeks of vacation starting immediately. Over the course of the past several weeks, it has become clear that God is leading me in a different direction. It is yet unclear what God has in store for me and my family, but I know that it will be just as magnificent as my ministry here at Fee Fee. I would covet your prayers as I seek God’s will for my family’s future. Thank you again for your prayers and support.                                                                                                                                                        —David Martin

Men’s Fraternity

We had an awesome turnout for our first evening study of 1 Samuel. It was so good to see you guys and to study the Word of God with you. We exist to encourage one another in our walk with Christ, our church family, our families at home, and our community. We meet every Sunday night at 5:30 p.m. in room B-1 (right below the office area). Come and be part of this growing ministry of our church!
