When Jesus began his earthly ministry, He started it by preaching what we call the “Beatitudes”. One would think that the first sermon of Jesus would be a great one, and it was. We often miss the powerful insight that the Beatitudes give us because they are so opposite of the world’s values. When Jesus said, “blessed are the peacemakers”, he was not talking about those who settled disputes between people or countries. He was referring to those who have learned how to bring some real peace to their hearts. Peacemakers begin with themselves and then spread that peace to others. Are you at peace with yourself?
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God.” Mark 5:9 NKJV
What a great day of worship we had last Sunday. We kicked off our Super Sunday nights with a bang. Assurance Quartet did an outstanding job. These concerts will continue each Sunday night and conclude on August 10. Bring a friend and enjoy the fellowship.

The church has nominated and the deacons have approved three men to begin training for the deacon ordination. These men are Dale Portell, Tom Compas, and Justin Flack. These men will work alongside the deacons and learn the duties and obligations of a deacon. After a year of training we anticipate holding an ordination service for them in the fall of 2015. Pray for these men and their families as they go through the process.
Keep in mind the family retreat that will be held on September 5-7. Kathy and I are working on some package pricing that we will share next Sunday. Stop by the table in the parlor for more information.
I am excited that the church family voted to begin a partnership with a church-start pastor in the Ukraine. Our partnership begins in September and will last three years. I will be traveling to the Ukraine in September to teach and preach in a partnership rally. Please keep the Ukraine Baptists in your prayers as they seek to start new churches for the Lord.
“40 Days of Prayer” is coming!! I am excited about this emphasis starting in October. Information will come in August on this very important spiritual event in the life of our church. Prepare yourself now to participate.
God continues to bless our church family; come be a part and help us reach our community for the Lord.
See you in church.
